Haydn’s exquisitely crafted Paukenmesse (Mass in the Time of War) is paired with the conductor’s gospel-hued choral-orchestral arrangements of traditional spirituals. These works will speak to each other across the centuries about the challenges of living through conflict and the quest for peace.

Our musical home for the week is the University of Washington in Seattle. UW’s stunning and easily navigable campus offers views of both the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges. UW’s Music Department and Meany Center for the Performing Arts are both centrally located. Campus housing will be in modern construction buildings with a majority of double rooms with private baths.
Seattle is the gateway to the dynamic culture and physical beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Local seafood, wine tastings, museums and a wealth of sound and mountain attractions await exploration. BCI will organize an optional afternoon tour for choristers, destination tbd.
