Elevate your choral horizons with a life-affirming program of peace and justice
Eugene Rogers, Director of Choirs at University of Michigan and Artistic Director of The Washington Chorus, makes his BCI debut with this program offering a powerful affirmation of the human experience and the search for justice and peace. Dr. Rogers is also the Founding director of EXIGENCE and was named by Musical America in 2017 as one of the top 30 “Movers and Shapers” in North America.
Damien Geter’s The Justice Symphony speaks to the urgent social justice challenges of today through an accessible 3-movement work centered around anthems from the Civil Rights Era including Keep Your Eyes on the Prize, Hold On, Precious Lord, and We Shall Overcome. Faure’s rapturously beautiful Requiem responds with transcendent solace.
Our musical home for the week will be the Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver, acclaimed as one of the nation's finest university arts centers. The vibrant city of Denver offers visitors a contemporary urban vibe along with a dose of frontier adventure.
