Experience the choral beauty and majesty of Vaughan Williams
A Sea Symphony, the first of Vaughan Williams’ nine symphonies, takes full chorus and orchestra on an epic voyage of the soul, set to the inspiring words of Walt Whitman. The Five Mystical Songs, composed a year later, provides a majestic contrast with sacred settings of George Herbert.
Joe Miller, Professor of Conducting and Director of Choral Studies at Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, returns to BCI to lead this all-Vaughan Williams program. Dr. Miller is also artistic director of choral activities for the renowned Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston and previously taught at Westminster Choir College.
Our week will be hosted at the vibrant Fine Arts Center on the dynamic UMass Amherst campus (awarded best campus dining in the nation for seven consecutive years).
